The world is changing for the better. An incredible movement has begun and we need it. The last couple of days, I've discovered so many Black Owned Business that I have to share. How did I not know about them?
Lingerie
First thing is first. You know I have to talk about lingerie, one of my favs.
D. Blue Dazzled - I discovered Blue years ago. When I saw the lingerie with bling, I was like yes sparkles. Her brand has expanded and worn by Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and more. She also has sweat shirts, hosiery and more. Oh and she has Plus Sizes too! I proudly have a thong that says, "fuck you you fucking fuck" teehee..
Lace By Tanaya Henry - When I say I am obsessed with Lace, I mean I want every single piece that she creates. I found this brand years ago. Henry custom makes crystal bras, tongs, bodysuits, jewelry, and more. Th epitome of sexy! She models her pieces, makes it by hand and recently opened an By Appointment boutique in Los Angeles. Oh! and she hand make an frosting body oil that she formulated and mixes herself. When I say she is a one woman show, she truly is.
Shoes
Shoes glorious shoes! Oh you know the more shoes I have the happier I am. I am so happy to have found this brand.
Brother Vellies - Mules, flats, heels. Oh My! So many colors, textures and styles. I have so many options, so little closet space.
Beauty
Mented Cosmetics - I've been looking for a natural lip color that works with my skin tone. I've tried commercial brands, luxury brands then I found this. You can even take a quiz on their site to see which works best for you. I can't wait to try this brand!
Feminine Care
The Honey Pot - Perfection if you are sensitive. 100% Natural! I've been looking for a brand that caters to my sensitivities and natural. Big brands have so many chemicals. You can also take a quiz to see what product is best.
Jewelry
Valerie Madison - Eco-friendly and beautiful fine jewelry. Based in Seattle and her pieces are gorgeous!
Dolls
Healthy Roots Dolls - A doll with beautiful curly hair that you can wash and care for. The design of the doll is so pretty.
NYC Bookstore
The Lit Bar - I discovered this hidden gem located in the Bronx when I went for my girl Cara Alwill launched her latest book "Girl on Fire". It wasn't your typical book launch. It was an intimate launch with a panel of four Latina women that had their own business. The Lit Bar has books from independent authors, she has an entire Shakespeare section, children's books and a Wine Bar! Did someone say wine?
This is such a small list of so many wonderful Black Owned Business. When looking for a new brands, go beyond the commercial brands. Not only will you find new talent but support a small business.
